Viral Video Redone

March 4, 2010
So as I mentioned in an earlier post we were told we would have to redo our viral video, and we had thought of an idea to go with it we just had to put that idea into motion and actually make it. Since then we have filmed it and shown it to Phil Beards (i believe). It is in two sections 1 was filmed by myself and Alex and the other was filmed by Dommi.

I feel that these new videos work alot better than our original viral video and im glad we were told to remake it. The are alot shorter and funnier I feel, esspecially Dommi’s one. The also have alot more production value that the previous try aswell.

Viral Video

January 21, 2010

*UPDATE*

Unfortunately after we showed our video to the class in a crit t it was felt it wasnt really up to the standards expected, we were given the chance to have another go at it and this time instead of reshooting it and trying to make it better we have decided to leave it and work on a completely new idea working around blu tack, we felt that since blu tack is really only good for sticking things on walls we would make an advert about what blu tack won’t do. Such as replace metal nails, tow a car and stop a burglary. I feel this idea is better as it focuses around a product and this will give people something to search fo, hopefully making it more viral.

Our group started by just listing some possible ideas which we all felt would be quite funny. We wanted to create something funny because we felt it would get the most hits and become the most viral that way. This carried on for a while and we struggled to come up with anything of  substance or originality, we came up with the idea to film a person playing guitar hero with out the guitar. This then evolved into someone playing guitar hero with guitar but acting like a rockstar and then taking it out into the streets, but we couldn’t all agree on it and some people in the group didnt like it so we decided to come up with new ideas.

We came up with a new idea which is the one we stuck with. The idea was to create a mock drawing tutorial in which the artist produces a terrible drawing and things go wrong but is very cocky. We think this will be a viral video because it will be funny, the reason most people watch a you tube video, and because a lot of people view tutorials on how to draw. We also had

So we set to it, we made a rough plan of what would happen but no script as we wanted Dommi to improvise it. We then hired out two DV cameras with tripods and found a suitable location in AUCB to film it.

We had one camera following Dommi drawing and one camera stationary that Dommi could talk to. Luckily Dommi came up with some brilliant stuff and filled the video nicely.

The video was then edited by Luke mainly and uploaded to you tube.

Viral Videos

October 9, 2009

A viral video is a video clip that gains widespread popularity through the process of Internet sharing.

Viral videos are becoming increasingly used by companies as marketing tactics. This is due to the the fact that they spread extremely fast and have the ability to reach a much wider audience than average advertising could ever dream of. Here are some of my favourite examples of a viral video.
