night of project update
December 16, 2009when animating my piece using the puppet pin tool i didnt like the way the legs looked, i felt they had a really weird look and it made the movement of the character not look as fluid and natural as it could. I tried to think of ways to improve the look of the movement and in the end i decided i would make his trousers thicker and thought this would make it look less like spaghetti and more like legs, i did this and it worked to an extent but im still not 100% happy with the look of it.
I also had problems with the monster i made, when i tried vectoring it for use with the puppet pin tool i felt that the body i had given it wasnt suitable to so i recreated the body and tried using the puppet pin tool to animate it but found that it didnt really look right so i changed it again, i made my final monster design alot simpler and created 3 different faces for it which i would use throughout the animation.

Principles of Computer Graphics Update
November 27, 2009My original design for my main character and monster for this animation were both vectored images and the limb sections were seperated and had black outlines, when i animated it using After Effects I used parenting and moved the pieces, when watching the animation i felt it made the joints look awkward and didnt give the desired effect i was looking for. After going to the Adobe talk and finding out abit about the puppet pin tool I decided to take a look at using that instead, I did some tests on the joints and the looked alot smoother. I also decided to remove the black outlines. Here is what my vector model look before and after aswell as a video test using the puppet pinĀ tool.

Principles Of Computer Graphics: Vector
November 12, 2009When thinking about how I wanted to present my piece I thought about the different ways I could create the monster. There are a range of different methods which would give me very different effects, these range from 3d modeling using Maya to Stop-Motion using either clay or something else. I chose to go somewhere in the middle of these methods and hand drew my monster then scanned it into my mac and using photoshop and the pen tool I recreated the original drawing as a vector shape. I feel it gave me the desired effect and will allow me to add colour to it in a good quality.

After Effects
October 28, 2009Heres a short piece i made usingafter effects. I created the image in photoshop then imported it in, created a 3D space and then animated it, i added cameras and lights in aswell.
